Broward College student Sequoah Lloyd was among 80 postsecondary students from across the United States selected as a 2022 NCWIT Collegiate Award Finalist for their technical contributions to innovative projects. Lloyd’s contributions to the “Newborn Hearing Screen Program – Missed Baby Report” helped the newborn hearing screening program, which is responsible for screening over 3 million babies per year. The program currently resides in more than 35 states.

Conferred annually, the NCWIT Award honors the outstanding computing accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate women, genderqueer, or nonbinary students. This year, selected based on their technical contributions to projects that demonstrate a high level of innovation and potential impact in the Preliminary Round applications, the Finalists represent 59 academic institutions across the country.
