Good afternoon! The first week of Spring semester has come to an end! With it, we would love to share some exciting news for our current senior superstars! This year, College Academy at Broward College has FIVE Posse Scholars! These five students deserve a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS! They persisted through three rounds of competitive interviews to be selected and will receive a FULL TUITION scholarship at some of the most highly selective liberal arts colleges in the country! Our scholars are: Fabiana Peres - will attend POMONA COLLEGE! Marina Do Carmo - will attend FRANKLIN AND MARSHALL COLLEGE! Nicholas Cuervo-Leon will attend FRANKLIN AND MARSHALL COLLEGE! Ja'riah Lamons will attend HAMILTON COLLEGE! Briana Martin will attend HAMILTON COLLEGE! But that’s not all! In addition to Posse, we have TWO QuestBridge Match Scholars!! These two students earned FULL COST OF ATTENDANCE Scholarships to one of the top 50 ranked schools in the country! Our scholars are: Bolton Bazil will attend DUKE UNIVERSITY! Angeles Mejia will attend WILLIAMS COLLEGE! But WAIT, that’s not all! Angeles (and CA) was ALSO featured on NBC6. Next month, By Degrees Foundation is taking 20 students from Harding Middle and North High School to Washington, D.C. They'll get to visit two Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs), tour the Supreme Court, meet with a Federal Judge, and visit the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. For many kids in our community, college visits aren't always possible, and out-of-state visits are financially prohibitive.
