I continue to be amazed at the generosity our community has shown to our students during these particularly difficult times.

On Giving Tuesday, December 1, thanks to the wonderful individuals and organizations in our community, we were able to raise $89,263.20 in support of student scholarships and programs. Three “angel” donors, who each pledged $10,000 - $15,000 in matching gifts, were a big part of the success that day: Dr. Monica McGrath, Vice Chair of the Broward College Foundation, doubled the impact of gifts to the Broward UP™ program; GEICO matched gifts to the Empowerment Fund, and the Louis and May Jean Wolff Foundation doubled gifts to the American Dream Scholarship. An additional $20,000 investment in the Adopt-a-Nurse program from the Wilkes-Short Foundation was matched by the Doctors Hospital Foundation.

Words are inadequate to express my full gratitude, but know I am truly thankful.

After tomorrow, Broward College will close for Winter Break, reopening on Monday, January 4. I wish you a safe and happy holiday season.

The Broward College 33rd Golf Classic takes place on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. This year’s tournament will be played on the NEW North Course. Don’t miss your opportunity to play!

Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and individual and foursome registration is now open.

Since its inception, the annual Golf Classic has raised more than $2.7 million to support the educational environment at Broward College, ensuring our students ultimately succeed in life and make our community a better place to live. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Empowerment Fund.
