U.S. Department Of Education Names Broward UP™ A Promise Neighborhood

Broward College is a recipient of $30 million over five years from the U.S. Department of Education as part of its Promise Neighborhoods program. This is the largest grant in the College’s history, and Broward College is the first grantee in Florida as well as the first community college in the nation to ever receive a Promise Neighborhoods grant. Thursday, October 27 at 6 p.m. – Just in time for Halloween, the Alumni & Friends Network presents an interactive chat about fear, suspense, and horror in film and books. These dark themes have permeated art and literature for thousands of years. We’ll explore their hold on human imagination and their presentation in literary horror and suspense and in the creative arts.

Broward College professor, author, podcast co-host, and filmmaker Professor Billy Jones moderates a faculty and alumni panel featuring Broward College Professor Nadim Tabsch and alumnus Noah MacDonald, AA ‘21. RSVP today…if you dare!

Come run, jog, or walk with us on Thanksgiving morning to help support Broward College nursing students. The 10th Annual Fort Lauderdale Turkey Trot is presented by MedPro and the Leadership Broward Foundation. The event will take place at Las Olas Oceanside Park on Thursday, November 25 at 7:30 a.m..

A portion of the event proceeds will support the MedPro Future Nurse Scholarship at Broward College. Established by MedPro Healthcare Staffing, this scholarship honors Broward College students pursuing a career in nursing. Nurses are at the heart of our Broward County medical community, and MedPro is privileged to support those who are dedicated to a lifetime of caring for others.

WELCOME ABOARD

We’re pleased to welcome Rebecca Jones to Broward College's Foundation Financial Management Team as our new Philanthropic Compliance Manager. 

Rebecca has worked with Broward College for the past five years. Her previous role was Assistant Director of Scholarships & Institutional Aid in the Student Financial Services area.

She has more than 11 years of experience in higher education, with a background in federal, state and institutional aid and donor-funded scholarships awarding. Rebecca received her B.S. in Finance from Florida State University and her MBA from Barry University.
