13th Annual Pillars Conference: Maximize Conflict Transformation
Alumni and friends are invited to register for virtual and in-person conference sessions. Evening sessions will also be available via streaming from August 11 through August 14. Faculty, alumni and expert guest panelists will engage you in conversations and thinking about conflict resolution and conflicting transformation in our personal lives and communities.
Keynote speakers include:
Krisel McSweeney, JD - Class of 2007
Broward College alumna Krisel McSweeney is the founder of McSweeney Law Firm. She is a knowledgeable, fierce, and compassionate attorney who puts her clients’ needs and best interests first. Her sessions will explore the relationship between conflict resolution and transformation. While resolution seeks a conclusion, transformation directs us towards change and growth.
Keny Felix, PhD - Broward College Psychology Professor
Dr. Keny Felix provides counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. He is very active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Bougainvilla House, a family therapy center that provides behavioral health and substance use programs for families. His sessions will examine the definitions of conflict resolution, conflict management, and conflict transformation, as well as consider growth and change when encountering types of conflicts.
Aundrea Paxton, PsyD
Dr. Aundrea Paxton is a clinical psychologist at Take Heart Counseling. Her session will explore how to maximize conflict transformation through pursuing repair in the midst of ruptures and how to create a map to get to that repair.
Ruth Meints, MMus - Executive Director, Omaha Conservatory of Music
Ruth Meints' session will explore how to maximize transformation, using the Six Hats model in parallel thinking from different perspectives, in order to fuel innovation, inclusivity in team dynamics and efficient problem-solving.
Katya Kross, BA - Class of 2018
Broward College alumna Katya Kross is a mentor in the College's Professional Enhancement Program (PEP), serving as a source of inspiration and motivation to students. Her session will examine how to maximize conflict transformation as a young adult from the perspective of recent undergraduate and graduate students.
The Pillars Conference is a collaborative effort between the Professional Enhancement Program of the Broward College Social Behavioral Sciences & Human Services, together with Broward College alumni.
