CONGRATS #BCPROUD GRADS!

On May 9, more than a thousand Broward College students graduated together at the Spring 2023 commencement ceremony at the Broward County Convention Center. These newest degree holders were welcomed by the Alumni & Friends and received their alumni pins, gifts, and opportunities to take photos to commemorate their special occasion. We look forward to staying connected with our newest alumni, and the contributions you will make. Congratulations, class of 2023!

NewsLean into your community: how this Broward College student overcame challenges

Philippe Kevin Lyberal, 23, was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. As an international student, Kevin faced unique challenges. He had no choice but to get creative. This month, Kevin's ingenuity and sacrifice pays off when he receives an Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Broward College. Learn more

 

NewsBroward College Academy helps high school students open doors

Tasfia Tazri Howlader, 17, was in the 10th grade when she came to Broward College as a Dual Enrollment student. As a Bangladeshi American and first-generation college student, Tasfia looked for a way to diversify her education and secure opportunities that opened doors for her future. Learn more

 

NewsMile-high achievement: Broward College receives multiple recognitions from the American Association of Community Colleges Awards of Excellence Gala in Denver

Sisters Karin Jordan, 38, and Marina Bertrand, 40, have been in-sync since birth. They are not exactly twins, but they find themselves presented with the question often enough. From birth to now, the sisters have faced the ups and downs of life, motherhood, and being second-time students as a team. Learn more

 

NewsBroward College takes another step towards addressing food insecurity among its students

Broward College has opened a Seahawk Marketplace (food pantry) on its Judson A. Samuels South Campus (Building 68 Room 101) to help students facing food insecurity. On the pantry’s first opening day it served 65 students.

This is the second Seahawk Marketplace opened by the College since 2021 as part of the College’s strategic response to barriers faced by many students pursuing post-secondary education. Learn more 

 

NewsBroward College Foundation welcomes Gloria M. Fernandez to its Board 

Gloria M. Fernandez was appointed to the Broward College Foundation Board of Directors during its May 25, 2023 board meeting. She previously served on the College’s Board of Trustees since October 2013. Learn more

PTCHFST ON JUNE 7, 2023

Attention alumni and friend entrepreneurs! #PTCHFST! Broward will include several pitching sessions in multiple formats on Wednesday, June 7, at 5 p.m. at the Broward College North Campus Library. The event will kick off with a Founders Mixer networking session, followed by a dynamic, interactive Startup Grind Fort Lauderdale-powered workshop entitled "Power Pitching: How to Win your Next Pitch Contest." Next, the Founders Boost South Florida Demo Day hybrid pitch experience will take place, ending with The Founders Live Fort Lauderdale Spring Pitch Event during the evening. 14th ANNUAL PILLARS CONFERENCE

How do we Maximize the Power of Now? Come engage with thought leaders, exemplary Broward College students and alumni, and share your perspective. 

Steven Goo, formerly a Vice President with Boeing Aerospace and members of the Padrino family, whose successful Cuban restaurants are well known across South Florida, are guest speakers at the 14th Annual Pillars Conference taking place from Thursday, August 10 through Sunday, August 13 at The Pillars Hotel & Club.

PAT TILLMAN HONOR RUN/WALK   

Thank you to the alums and friends who joined Broward College students, faculty, and staff at the only Pat Tillman Honor Run/Walk in Florida. Proceeds from the event will benefit Broward College student Veterans.

Since earning her A.S. in Professional Pilot Technology from BC in 2011 (with highest honors), she pursued and excelled in educational and professional experiences including serving as an assistant professor at the University of Mumbai, her alma mater.
