Broward College congratulates Major Gifts Officer Jim DeChant for his stellar waltz performance during the Dancing with the Local Stars event hosted by Women in Distress on Saturday, July 8. Joined by Jim's dancing partner Jelena Kolarovic (former Serbian National Latin Champion), and eight local celebrities, this successful fundraising event raised funds to support Women in Distress of Broward County.

Broward College has been an important partner of Women in Distress for nearly two decades. Through on-campus Women in Distress career readiness seminars, students and community leaders have learned how domestic violence impacts daily lives. Although domestic violence occurs across all income levels, women from low-wage-earning families are, in fact, more frequently victimized than their peers.

We celebrate and congratulate alumna and Broward College employee Wendy Varela. Wendy is a double alumna of Broward College, obtaining her A.A. in Business Administration in 2012 and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management in 2014. We proudly celebrate her as an exemplary alumna and member of the Broward College family.

We celebrate alumnus Noel Neil, JM., CDME, and his recent recognition from the Board of Certification/Accreditation as Certificant of the Year. A 2018 Magna Cum Laude BAS graduate from Broward College, Noel is an expert in the areas of billing, auditing, appeals, and regulatory compliance, serving as vice president of auditing and corporate compliance at ACU-Serve Corp, where he is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the company’s corporate compliance program.
