More than 4,050 Seahawks have now earned the title of Broward College alumni, following the Fall 2023 Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, December 14, at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. These newest degree holders were welcomed by the Alumni & Friends and received their alumni pins, gifts, and opportunities to take photos to commemorate their special occasion. We look forward to staying connected with these newest alumni, and we will be following their journeys with anticipation. Learn more.

Fall 2023 Commencement included the largest cohort from the College’s Associate of Science in Nursing Program, with 169 graduates taking the Nightingale Pledge at the Broward College December 2023 Candlelighting Ceremony on December 11, 2023.

NewsBroward College Alum Reginald “Andre” Andre serves as Commencement Speaker

During the Fall 2023 commencement ceremony, Reginald Andre, a two-time Broward College alum who now serves as CEO of the cybersecurity and IT solutions provider ARK Solvers addressed new grads with words of encouragement for the future. The Broward College Foundation appointed BrightStar Credit Union President and CEO Biana Murnane; Gold Coast Angel Investors (GCAI) Managing Partner Bo Megginson; The Boeing Company Senior Manager Sasha Lightbourne; and Truist Bank Senior Vice President and International Wealth Advisor Yolanda Perez to its Board of Directors, in addition to reappointments and a new slate of executive Board Members, during its board meeting on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Once again, The Aspen Institute has named Broward College one of the 150 institutions eligible to compete for the $1 million Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation's signature recognition of high achievement and performance among two-year colleges. Learn more.



January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Alumni & Friends is partnering once again the Social Behavioral Sciences and Human Services pathway and with Project Stay Gold, a national student movement to abolish modern-day slavery, to organize its second annual 5K Walk on Broward College's Central Campus in Davie. Last year over 200 alumni, students, faculty, staff and supporters walked or ran with us.

Join us on January 27, 2024 to add your voice to ending the demand for human trafficking, which affects us here in South Florida. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. While this event is complimentary and free of charge, we are grateful for contributions to the SBSHS Scholarship which directly benefits students at Broward College.


Only a few seats remain for our Night Out with the Miami Heat as they play against the Boston Celtics. Tickets start at $31. Come out with us and show off your Broward College pride. The first 130 ticket purchasers will be invited down to the court post-game to shoot a hoop!


It’s Time to Play!!! Don’t miss the opportunity to come out swinging and support our students at Broward College. The 36th Broward College Golf Classic will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation. You have the opportunity to register as a sponsor, participate in the tournament, or donate to the Empowerment Fund, which provides flexibility to quickly respond to the critical needs of the College community and advance top priorities to bring forth opportunities for student success.

Jacaranda Golf Club, South Florida’s premier semi-private golf club, features 36 holes of championship golf. Since its inception, the Golf Classic has raised more than $2.8 million to support the educational environment at Broward College through scholarships and program support.

On Thursday, November 30th Broward College Entrepreneurship Experience aka BCEx hosted a showcase where talented students pitched groundbreaking products and inspired everyone in the packed auditorium with their journey. An esteemed panel of community leaders, partners, and allies shared their initiatives to shape the entrepreneurial landscape in South Florida.

Among the honorees and award recipients of the evening were Broward College alumni. We congratulate Rodney Stewart, Gino Herring; Kytana Phillips, Michele DiSorbo; Geoffrey Gazda, all of whom were celebrated as 2023 BCEx Alumni of the Year.



We proudly celebrate Broward College Public Safety Class of 2000 graduate William "Bill" Schultz on his recent promotion and installation as Police Chief of the City of Fort Lauderdale.
