Greg Tait: Honoring a legacy of teaching through generosity and engagement
Greg Tait, former Broward College Foundation Board member, recently took an active role in shaping the future of education by joining first-year Education majors at Broward College for an inspiring classroom experience at North Campus. Alongside Dean Elizabeth Molina, Greg participated in an engaging exercise where students used pipe cleaners to create sculptures representing their motivations for pursuing a teaching career and the strengths and values that will help them excel in the field. His presence brought real-world insight and encouragement to these aspiring educators.
In addition to his hands-on involvement, Greg and his family have continued their commitment to education through his recent philanthropic investment to establish an annual scholarship in memory of his mother, Margaret T. Tait, who was a dedicated teacher. These scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in exceptional student education, ensuring that Margaret's passion for teaching will be carried forward by future generations of educators.

On the cusp of Halloween, on Wednesday, October 30 Alumni & Friends welcomed authors, educators, and podcasters Dr. Billy Jones and Nadim Tabsch who led a sweeping presentation about classic horror genre icons. We learned that these icons often embody deep-seated fears and societal anxieties, reflecting themes of transformation, the unknown, and the consequences of human hubris. Characters discussed included Dracula, Frankenstein, Michael Meyers, Carrie, the Exorcist and many more.
As Professor Jones told the Alumni & Friends audience, “These individuals are icons, entities or characters that resonate through classic or canonical literature, but also because, as technology evolves and emerging technologies are introduced, so does horror.”
Nadim Tabsch added, “For me, a classic horror icon is a character that is easily identifiable in your mind, but also has that creepy element.” These insights underscore the enduring nature and evolving relevance of classic horror icons.
If you’re a fan of the horror genre, you can watch the recording now on our YouTube channel.

Our college recently welcomed back one of our distinguished graduates, Dr. Evelyn B. Enrione. She represents Broward College's lasting impact on its graduates. During her visit, she shared many inspirational stories, which were captured in an interview with one of our students.
Dr. Enrione's journey began as a dietetic technician. She retired as a respected researcher and educator in the field of nutrition science. She has not forgotten her alma mater, where she started at the Junior College of Broward County (Broward College).
During her visit, Dr. Enrione was interviewed by Gisele Forero, a Broward College student. Along with the many valuable insights, memories, and historical information she shared, she also brought along valuable artifacts such as a scrapbook filled with pictures and newspaper articles of when she was a student here. Dr. Enrione was a part of the Delta Xi Epsilon sorority and was the first female president of the Greek Council. As she remembered her time at Broward College, she credits her journey of success to faculty members such as Dr. Thomas Ryan, now deceased, and the college as whole. Her words of appreciation for Broward College served as a powerful reminder of the importance of our educational mission.
Dr. Enrione's continued support of our college goes beyond words. As a generous donor, she actively contributes to the growth and development of Broward College and its students. Her commitment to giving back exemplifies the values we strive to instill in all our students.
Dr. Enrione's visit reminds us of the profound impact our alumni can have, not only in their professional fields but also in shaping the future of our institution. We look forward to sharing more stories of alumni success and engagements.
