OCTOBER 2023

TRAGEDY TURNED TO PURPOSE:
HELPING STUDENTS LEARN
ETHICAL DECISION MAKING

Motivated by the tragic loss of their son Michael, Jr. due to an auto accident caused by an automotive technician’s decision to substitute quality parts for inferior parts on the used car he purchased that fateful day, Michael and Pam Grimmé launched the Michael J. Grimmé II Ethical Decision-Making Training at Broward College. This program endowment was established so that future generations of students have the framework to properly navigate ethical business situations. Since 2019, Mike and Pam have partnered with our transportation programs faculty to share the story of their 17-year-old son losing control of his car on I-95 to help hundreds of students each semester understand how vital ethical decision-making is and how to incorporate this into their lives as they achieve their training and enter the workforce.
